Blackline Live Bulk Actions Feature Launching April 2026

Our new Bulk actions feature will available in Blackline Live on April 7, 2026!

We are pleased to announce that our new Bulk actions feature will be available in Blackline Live on April 7, 2026.

Bulk actions allow you to complete multiple actions at once within your organization, such as creating or editing multiple team members simultaneously. You can use this tool to more efficiently manage your organization by streamlining your workflows and reducing time consuming manual processes.

Bulk Action Requests

You can use the new Bulk actions page to submit new bulk action requests, as well as view and manage past requests. The Bulk actions page is separated into two tabs: the Request History tab and the Submit New Request tab.

You can use the Submit New Request tab to submit new bulk action requests. The Request history tab provides full visibility into each request, including:

  • Request status

  • Request type

  • Request ID

  • Case/reference number

  • When the request was submitted

  • Which user submitted the request

  • Number of actions completed

For full instructions on submitting bulk action requests, see the Blackline Live Technical User Manual.

Managing Your Team Members with Bulk Actions

You can use bulk actions to manage multiple team members in a single operation within your own organization or within organizations you have a relationship with.

Note:

You must have the appropriate permissions to manage team members to complete the bulk team member creation or bulk edit team member actions within an organization you have a relationship with.

Bulk Team Member Creation

Bulk team member creation requests let you create multiple team member records in Blackline Live simultaneously. Use the Bulk actions page to upload the team member creation template CSV file with team member information, such as contact details, role access to groups, and more.

Note:

Account users can be given access to up to three groups, including the All devices group.

Bulk Edit Team Member

Bulk edit team member requests let you edit the details of multiple team member records in Blackline Live simultaneously. Download the Team Member Edit Template CSV file from the Bulk actions page, which includes a list of all active and pending team members. You can update the team member details within the file, then submit the updated file on the Submit new requests tab.

Note: Bulk actions cannot be used to edit role access to groups, change team member type, or change team member status.

Bulk Actions FAQ

Can I remove columns from the Team Member Creation Template or the Edit Team Member Template files?

No, if a required column is missing from the template file, the bulk action request will be rejected. The following columns are required:

  • organization_name

  • first_name & last_name OR employee_ID

If you are creating or editing an account user, the following additional columns are required:

  • user_role

  • group_access

  • email_address

Can I add additional columns to the template CSV files?

You can add additional columns to the template file, but Blackline Live will ignore the additional columns during the request submission process. Only information in the required columns will be uploaded.

What will happen if I upload the Team Member Edit Template file with cells that have been overwritten with an empty value?

Blackline Live will update the value of empty cells as 'blank'. For example, if a team member had an employee ID but the template file has a blank cell for that field, then the employee ID will be cleared when the bulk action request is processed.

What should I enter in the Team Member Creation Template file if I'm unsure of which permissions or groups I want to assign to an account user?

Create a placeholder group in your Blackline Live organization. When you are unsure which permissions or groups to assign to new team members, you can assign them to the placeholder group in the template file and then update the team member details later.
