Changing the Screen Protector

It is recommended to change the G8's screen protector when it becomes visibly damaged. This may help prevent personal injury and damage to the G8's screen and will improve readability.

To change the screen protector, you need the following:

  • Spudger pry tool

  • Replacement screen protector kit:

    • Replacement screen protector (ACC-G8-SP-XXX)

    • Isopropyl alcohol pads

    • Microfiber cloth

  • Canned air

Note: Always perform maintenance procedures in a clean, dust-free environment.
CAUTION: Ensure G8 is powered off before beginning this procedure.
  1. Detach the cartridge from G8. For detailed steps, refer to Installing and Replacing the Cartridge in the Cartridge Technical User Manual.Removing G8 cartridge.
  2. Use the Spudger pry tool to lift up a corner of the old screen protector.Removing G8 screen protector with the prying tool.
  3. Peel off the old screen protector.Peeling off G8's old screen protector.
  4. Inspect the screen for broken glass before cleaning it, as shards can scratch the screen.G8 with small glass shards on the screen.
  5. Use canned air to blow off the screen to remove any glass shards or other debris.
  6. Clean the screen with the isopropyl alcohol wipe. Ensure the screen is completely free of all residue and that there are no marks on the screen.Cleaning the G8's screen with an isopropyl alcohol wipe.
  7. Use the microfiber cloth to dry any remaining marks on the screen.G8 screen and microfiber cloth.
    Note: Be careful when cleaning the G8's screen to prevent scratches on the screen material.
  8. Peel the protective film from the sticky side of the replacement screen protector by pulling the bottom pull tab.Peeling off the G8 screen protector's protection layer.
  9. Place the replacement screen protector on G8's screen. Start by aligning the bottom edges of the screen protector with G8's screen.Placing the screen protector on G8 screen.
  10. Align the rest of the screen protector with G8's screen.Fixing the screen protector to G8 screen.
  11. Push out any air bubbles between the screen protector and the G8's screen. Start in the middle and push the bubbles out toward the edges.Pressing on the G8's screen to remove air bubbles.
    Note: If misalignment or air bubbles are present after installation, lift the affected portion of the screen protector, realign it, and reapply it while pushing the air bubbles toward the edges.
  12. Reinstall the G8 cartridge. For detailed steps, refer to Installing and Replacing the Cartridge in the Cartridge Technical User Manual. Replacing G8 cartridge to keep using the device.
