Installing and Replacing the Cartridge

Cartridges are user-replaceable and designed for direct installation into supported Blackline devices. Only certified Blackline cartridges should be used.

Improper installation may impair gas detection accuracy or void the intrinsic safety certification.

Before beginning, power off the device, place it on a flat, stable surface, and avoid touching sensor membranes or cartridge openings.

  1. Remove the existing cartridge:
    • G7/G8: Use a manual Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the two screws (one on each side of the cartridge). Pull upward to detach the cartridge.

    • EXO: Loosen the four captive screws on the cartridge cover. Remove the cover by pulling forward. Then pull the cartridge out of the slot.

  2. Insert the new cartridge:
    • G7/G8: Slide the new cartridge onto the device, then press down firmly to secure it.

    • EXO: Align the cartridge so the sensors face downward. Insert fully into the cartridge slot.

  3. Secure the cartridge in place:
Note: Do not overtighten the screws
    .
    • G7/G8: Reinsert the screws into each side, then tighten by hand.

    • EXO: Replace the cartridge cover, then tighten the captive screws until snug.

  4. Restart the device by powering on the device.

The device performs a self-test on start-up and resumes normal operation.
