Changing the Metal Clip

Replacing a damaged G8 metal clip ensures G8 remains in good working condition.

To replace the G8 metal clip, you need the items below:

  • ACC-MC Metal Clip

  • #0 Philips head screwdriver

Note: Reach out to your Blackline Safety contact to purchase replacement metal clips using the part number ACC-MC.
Note: If G8's plastic retention ears are broken, your device must be sent in for repair.
  1. Power off G8. For instructions, see Powering off G8.
  2. Place G8 down on its screen to expose the metal clip.
  3. Lift open the metal clip cover to reveal a screw in the clip's hole.The G8's back with a metal clip opened and a screwdriver.
  4. Use the Philips screwdriver to unscrew the metal clip screw from G8.Screwdriver on screw in the G8 metal clip.
  5. Remove the screw and set it aside. Do not discard the screw.The G8 metal clip screw.
  6. Slide the broken metal clip upward to remove it.Removed G8 metal clip.
  7. Get the replacement metal clip (ACC-MC).
  8. Slide the bottom of the new clip through G8's clip retention ears.Replaced G8 metal clip.
  9. Lift open the new clip to expose the screwdriver hole.
  10. Use the screwdriver to install the screw into the new clip. Screwdriver in the G8 metal clip's hole.
