When bump testing and calibrating G7, G8, and EXO, to avoid sensor cross-sensitivity, you must consider the order you test your gas sensors in. The gas order you select depends on the gas sensors your device is equipped with, and whether you are using single gas or combination gas cylinders. For more details, see Determining Gas Sensor Bump Testing and Calibration
Order.
Attach the tube and calibration cap, ensuring the tube is securely attached to the fixed-flow regulator and calibration cap.
CAUTION: Do not turn on the gas cylinder until G8 indicates you should do so.
From the Status screen, press the center button to display G8's Main menu.
Using the left and right buttons, scroll through the menu, then select Gas options by pressing the center button.
The Gas info menu displays.
Using the left and right buttons, scroll through the menu, then select Calibration by pressing the center button.
Select Yes by pressing the right button to continue. To exit the workflow, select No by pressing the left button.
G8 performs an automatic audio and visual assessment to test vibration and lights.
Note: Light operation may be suppressed for up to five seconds. For more details, see Lights and Sound Patterns.
Select Start zeroing by pressing the center button. G8 zeros the sensors before the calibration starts.
CAUTION: Do not clear any checkboxes before zeroing. If you are not calibrating all sensors at the same time (i.e., you are only calibrating specific sensors or you are using multiple gas cylinders), you must wait for zeroing to complete before selecting which sensors to calibrate.
Select the sensors you want to calibrate. By default, G8 calibrates all sensors. If you do not want to calibrate all the sensors, are calibrating in a specific order, or are using multiple gas cylinders, use the left and right buttons to scroll through the sensors, then press the center button to select or clear the checkbox for each sensor.
Use the left and right buttons to select Start span and press the center button to start the calibration.
G8 begins to count down from 60.
Apply the gas within this time window.
Turn off the gas when prompted, then press the center button to complete the calibration.
Allow the residual gas to clear, then disconnect the cap from your G8.
G8 displays if the calibration has passed or failed, and when your next calibration is due.If G8 displays a calibration fail message, try the calibration again. If the error persists, contact the Blackline Safety Technical Support team.
