What's new in the May 2026 G6 Update

Learn about the new features and enhancements coming to G6 in May 2026.

On May 26, 2026, Blackline Safety is releasing G6 firmware version 1.8 along with updates to Blackline Live that include the following new features:

  • Disable device power down

  • Battery saver

  • Install firmware updates by restarting G6

Disable Device Power Down

Blackline Live administrators can use the disable power down configuration to prevent users from powering off G6 from the device menu. When this setting is enabled, G6 stays powered on until the battery is fully depleted. You can use this feature to ensure that G6 is not powered off during a work shift so device users are always protected and maintain compliance.

Battery Saver

Blackline Live administrators can use the battery saver configuration to extend the battery life of G6. When this setting is enabled, G6 automatically reduces its communication interval to once every six hours when it reaches the configured low-battery threshold. G6 will return to the regular communication interval when you charge the battery to a level that's 20% higher than the low-battery threshold. This setting does not prevent G6 from connecting to Blackline Live to report gas notifications and SOS events.

Install Firmware Updates by Restarting G6

After this update, you can install firmware updates that are downloaded to G6 by restarting the device. G6 displays a notification when a firmware update is available to install.
