How the Sensor Works

The LEL-IR digital sensor measures gas concentration using a fixed wavelength of infrared light. As gas passes through the sensor's optical path, the amount of absorbed infrared light is proportional to the methane concentration.

The sensor continuously monitors gas levels during device operation. For accurate performance, the sensor requires:
  • A continuous flow of sample gas or ambient air through the optical path.

  • A clean and dry optical environment, free from contamination or condensation.
