Bump Testing ClO2 Sensors

Overview

G7/G8 Dock can be used to perform ClO2 sensor bump tests. Blackline Safety recommends using Cl2 gas to bump-test the ClO2 sensor in the dock.

Note: The ClO2 sensor bump test in G7/G8 Dock is only supported on diffusion cartridges. Pump cartridges do not support the ClO2 sensor.
Note: G7/G8 Dock cannot properly calibrate the ClO2 sensor. To calibrate the sensor, refer to Calibrating ClO2 Sensors.

Before You Bump Test the ClO2 Sensor

Prior to bump testing a G7 or G8 device equipped with a ClO2 sensor, update your G7/G8 Dock configuration in Blackline Live as follows:

  1. Configure inlet 1 to ClO2.ClO2 dock inlet settings.
    Note: ClO2 cannot be combined with other gases in the same inlet. Doing so causes an error in the G7/G8 dock configuration on Blackline Live.
    Important: The Cl2 concentration is automatically set to 5 ppm on Blackline Live and cannot be changed. 5 ppm Cl2 concentration is equivalent to 1.6 ppm on the ClO2 sensor.
  2. Configure other inlets, where applicable, to match the cartridge's sensor combination.

Performing the Bump Test

Once G7/G8 Dock is configured in Blackline Live, set up the dock as follows:

  • Use Teflon-lined tubing (ACC-FEP-T2) to connect the Cl2 gas cylinder to inlet 1, ensuring the tubing between the dock and the gas cylinder is as short as possible.

  • Use a stainless-steel regulator or a regulator with a Viton valve seat and seals (ACC‑DFR-V) on the Cl2 gas cylinder.

Before placing a device into the configured G7/G8 Dock, you should:

  • Ensure that the G7 or G8 device has been switched on, left in fresh air, and has not been bump-tested or calibrated in the last 15- 20 minutes.

  • Verify that the ClO2 sensor reads 0 ppm. If not, complete a zero of the device in fresh air.
