Occurs on a Pellistor sensor when contaminants decompose on the surface of the catalytic bead, leaving the sensor less sensitive to gases, or failing to detect gases completely. Once a sensor has been poisoned, it must be replaced. A worker will not know their sensor has been poisoned until a calibration is attempted.
