"0.00" Gas and Gamma Sensor Readings in the EXO Analytics Report

When EXO records gas or gamma concentrations in the environment, the sensor readings are communicated to Blackline Live based on your configured communication intervals. Recorded EXO sensor readings then display on the EXO Analytics report in Blackline Analytics.

If EXO does not detect any gas or gamma radiation in the environment, a "0.00" reading will be recorded and communicated to Blackline Live. The "0.00" reading will display on the Sensor Logs page of the EXO Analytics report.

"0.00" readings only display on the Sensor Logs page and are valid sensor readings when communicated at regular communication intervals. They do not indicate:

  • Missing data

  • Report errors

  • Sensor malfunctions

If you are unsure if any recorded "0.00" readings are valid readings, you can compare the sensor log timestamps to your expected communication intervals:

  • "0.00" readings that occur at regular communication intervals are expected behavior.

  • "0.00" readings that occur outside regular communication intervals are unexpected behavior.

Communication Intervals

The following table describes the default communication frequency to Blackline Live for each connection module:

Normal Operation When EXO is in Motion During a High-Urgency Event
Cellular 30 min30 secondsImmediately
Satellite 2 hrs30 minsImmediately
Note:

If your configuration profile has Gas Alert Countdown enabled, communication to monitoring personnel is delayed by 30 seconds during high-urgency gas events.

Verifying EXO's Communication Frequency

If you have configured custom communication intervals or are unsure how frequently EXO communicates with Blackline Live, you can use the sensor log timestamps on the Sensor Logs tab to verify EXO's communication frequency.

Consistent sensor log timestamps reflect your device's actual communication frequency. For example, sensor log timestamps every 30 minutes or every 2 hours indicates that your EXO devices are configured to communicate with Blackline Live using the default communication intervals.

Unexpected "0.00" Readings

If you observe any unexpected "0.00" readings, please contact Blackline Safety's Technical Support team. You should contact Technical Support when:

  • You have not configured custom communication intervals, but are still observing unexpected "0.00" readings.

  • You have configured custom communication intervals and are unsure how it relates to the "0.00" readings observed on the Sensor Logs tab of the EXO Analytics report.
